In the artist's own words: “The subject is the local folks that are peacefully traveling along the river. I took this photo because it was unique. How often is it that a river is one of the main sources of transport for a University? The other true reason why I took this picture was because it gave me a sense of peace. There is absolutely no one around except for the occasional friendly passerby. The river slowly hitting the sides of your boat as you coast peacefully along not a care in the world. It is the source of relaxation, beauty, and comfort that has given this river the nickname 'The Most beautiful mile in all of England', and is why I hold it close to my heart."
