In the artist's own words: “This photo is of a Japanese child making a yuki-daruma (snowman) with the help of his mother to be a part of the annual snow festival in Sapporo. I like how the boy is sitting on top of the snow, suggesting that all the snowmen were once boys like him who became covered in snow and ended up staying there.”
